XR Horizons Workshop Brings Partners and Stakeholders Together to Shape the Future of XR Skills

The “XR Horizons: Building Skills for Tomorrow” initiative brought project partners and external stakeholders together across two days of focused discussion and hands-on exchange, held on 1 and 2 December.

The programme began on 1 December with an internal Steering Committee meeting, attended exclusively by Alliance4XR partners. The session provided space to take stock of the project’s current progress, review ongoing activities and agree on priorities for the months ahead. Partners also discussed coordination aspects and practical next steps to ensure the smooth continuation of the project.

The following day, 2 December, the focus shifted to a more open and interactive format with the XR Horizons demo workshop. Participants joined both on-site and online to explore how XR technologies are being applied within education and training contexts.

Live demonstrations presented by project partners showcased concrete use cases, including applications in marine and maritime training, structural engineering, and 3D learning environments developed through photogrammetry. The sessions sparked active discussion around how immersive technologies can support more engaging, practical and accessible learning experiences.

The workshop also featured short spotlight sessions and exchanges with related initiatives, offering opportunities to share perspectives, identify synergies and reflect on common challenges within the XR ecosystem. Key moments from the day were shared through social media, extending the reach of the event beyond those attending live.

Overall, the XR Horizons workshop marked an important moment for the project, strengthening collaboration among partners and reinforcing its commitment to developing XR-based training solutions aligned with emerging skills needs.
