Alliance4XR takes the stage at EuroXR Summer School 2025

Alliance4XR was in the spotlight at this year’s EuroXR Summer School, held at the picturesque Lake Como campus of Politecnico di Milano. Representing the project, Vasilis Petrou (Geoimaging) delivered an engaging session focused on the role of extended reality (XR) in engineering education.

The presentation, part of the school’s official lecture programme, introduced participants to the Alliance4XR platform and curriculum, developed to integrate XR technologies into higher education and vocational training, especially in the civil engineering, energy, and maritime sectors.

Bridging the Gap Between XR and Education

Petrou’s session highlighted how XR can enhance teaching and learning outcomes by offering immersive, hands-on experiences. He walked attendees through real-life case studies and demonstrated key features of the platform, including 3D model interaction and remote collaboration tools.

Participants also took part in a group challenge where they explored how XR tools can be applied in a classroom or training environment. This practical component gave students and educators alike a chance to experiment with scenarios that blended technical content with digital innovation.

Why It Matters

As demand grows for green and digital skills in Europe’s workforce, initiatives like Alliance4XR play a crucial role in preparing students and professionals for the challenges ahead. By introducing easy-to-use XR tools and flexible learning modules, the project is helping educators modernise their teaching methods and adapt to the changing needs of industry.

The EuroXR Summer School, organised by the European Association for eXtended Reality, gathered researchers, developers, and educators from across the continent. This year’s programme focused on how immersive technologies can support learning, cultural heritage, and healthcare.

A Step Forward for Alliance4XR

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing interest in adopting the tools presented in their own institutions. For Alliance4XR, this was not just a presentation—it was a chance to connect with the next generation of XR users, spark new collaborations, and bring the project one step closer to its goal of mainstreaming XR in European education.
