Today, University College Dublin (UCD) hosted the Alliance4XR Focus Group Workshop, uniting educators, researchers, industry leaders, and innovators to explore the transformative potential of Extended Reality (XR) in education. This hybrid event, part of the Alliance4XR initiative, provided a platform for sharing insights, addressing challenges, and collaboratively designing solutions to advance XR integration into learning environments.
Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions on key issues such as inclusivity, accessibility, and the technical requirements for implementing XR in education. The “Show & Tell” session showcased inspiring examples of curriculum materials, teaching methods, and tools already making a difference in classrooms, demonstrating XR’s power to enhance engagement and provide new opportunities for learners.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of the Alliance4XR platform, which is currently in its early development stages. The session sparked engaging discussions about the types of materials and resources educators would find most useful for classroom integration. Attendees emphasized the importance of usability and accessibility for diverse users and explored practical content ideas that could enhance teaching and learning. This collaborative exchange underscored the value of cross-sector partnerships in shaping impactful and innovative educational technologies.
The workshop also tackled broader issues, including aligning XR curricula with European standards and the need for interdisciplinary approaches to ensure learners are equipped with industry-relevant skills. Attendees discussed the importance of ethical frameworks and regulatory compliance in creating inclusive and sustainable XR learning environments.

As the day concluded, participants left energized and optimistic about the next steps, with a shared commitment to advancing XR in education. The insights and partnerships formed during the workshop will serve as a foundation for future initiatives and the continued development of the Alliance4XR platform.
