For three days, Athens became the epicenter of cutting-edge developments in eXtended Reality (XR) as experts, industry leaders, and researchers gathered for the EuroXR Conference 2024. At this congregation of innovators, Alliance4XR, stood out as a driving force in the integration of XR technologies into education and vocational training.
This year’s conference offered Alliance4XR the perfect platform to showcase its achievements, foster strategic collaborations and synergies. From live demos to collaborative sessions, the project demonstrated the transformative potential of XR in reshaping education for the future.
During dedicated sessions, the consortium presented the significant milestones achieved in its first year, emphasizing the project’s practical solutions for bridging the digital skills gap.
Alliance4XR’s academic commitment was also reflected in the presentation of two posters that captivated attendees. The first, titled “Integrating Extended Reality (XR) in Teaching Sustainability: A Qualitative Study with Student Teachers across the Disciplines of STEM, Humanities and Languages”, authored by Dr. Rachel Farrell, Dr. Eileen Bowman, and Marelle Rice, explored how XR can transform sustainable education. The second, “XR and Haptic Feedback for Electrician Training: Ferrexpo Case Study”, presented by Maryna Tymchenko, highlighted the impact of immersive technologies on technical training.
Additionally the Alliance4XR consortium held an internal meeting during the first day conference to assess the project’s progress and plan next steps. In this session, partners reviewed advancements in developing the digital platform and innovative educational materials that form the project’s core. The meeting also served to strengthen the implementation strategy and ensure that the project continues to meet labor market needs in critical fields such as structural engineering, energy, and the maritime sector.
A major highlight of the second day was Alliance4XR’s participation in a dedicated session alongside other Erasmus+ sister projects Metaverse Academy, Digital Twins and PAX. This opportunity allowed the projects to share their respective goals and breakthroughs, fostering collaboration and identifying new synergies within the XR and education ecosystems. This exchange highlighted the strength of Erasmus+ initiatives in driving forward innovation in education and creating a more connected and impactful network of projects.
Also the project had the chance to showcase a demo of the first version of its new digital platform. This provided an opportunity to present the initial design, gather feedback from attendees, and refine the platform further.
The participation at the EuroXR Conference 2024, Alliance4XR not only solidifies its leadership in the XR field but also reaffirms its commitment to creating more inclusive, innovative education aligned with the demands of the future.
